Poodle Sense breeds, trains and sells standard poodles for hunting, pets, diabetic alert and mobility assist.
Poodle Sense breeds our poodles to be healthy, loving, and gentle. Each litter will produce a mix of personalities from the laid back couch potato to the energetic working dog.
Occasionally we have an adult standard poodle who needs a new home. This is a rare event and you will need exceptional timing to get one of these wonderful dogs.
One of the most rewarding things I find as a breeder is to be able to place a puppy in a home where I know their owners will love and care for them and make them part of their family.
My name is Sandy Vance, owner of Poodle Sense. My first Standard Poodle was in 1993. She was a beautiful blue and we named her Mindy. I was drawn to standards because I am allergic to dogs and poodles have hypoallergenic traits. She was a great addition to our family and gave us unconditional love for 12 years.
In 2002 we became multiple standard poodle owners when we brought home our 2nd blue and named him Maximus.
I self trained my first dog Mindy and started on my path to learn how to train dogs. When Maximus came along we decided to bring him to an obedience class. I learned a great deal from dog trainers and realized how important it is to start when the dog is young.
In 2007 I started volunteering at Can Do Canines to raise and train poodle puppies for service. You can view the past service dogs I have raised on our dogs/past service dogs page. I also teach a puppy class weekly for service dogs in training at the Fish Lake Township Hall, contact me for details.
My first litter of puppies was in 2011. There were 7 puppies in the litter. Two became diabetic alert dogs, one a hunting dog and all are family pets. I’ve enjoyed the experience and continue raising, training and breeding Standard Poodles.
Poodle Sense is located at our 10 acre home, one hour’s drive north of Mpls/St. Paul in Harris, MN. The dogs get plenty of exercise and have room to play.
Our standard poodles are health tested prior to breeding to make sure the dogs will produce quality healthy puppies.
